Are you ready for a new career challenge? Do you have a friend who's looking for a professional
position? Digital Rochester and the
High Tech Business Council (HTBC) have partnered to present
our third Job Fair that's designed to match area professionals with the opportunities that will boost the economic potential of our region.
There is no charge to attend.
Participating companies represent optics, life sciences/bio-tech, engineering, software development, IT and
telecom industries, hiring technical talent as well as sales, marketing, manufacturing, HR, finance & operations professionals. When innovation and opportunity tap into a highly skilled and productive workforce,
the Rochester/Finger Lakes region is at its best!
These companies are hiring for hundreds of professional positions! It is very important that you pass the word to your friends and neighbors so that we get information to as many people who are interested in exploring their opportunities for career advancement as possible.
You don't need to be job hunting to come out and see what these great Rochester companies
are up to - and to catch up with some old friends. Check out the booths and mingle with the crowd to see who's landed where
over the past couple of years. Reconnect!
EMPLOYERS: We have a limited number of additional spaces still available. Click here

LOCATION:
We thank the Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley for leasing us their Program Center for this event. Situated on 25 scenic acres, the building includes a gymnasium, a striking two story atrium and multipurpose rooms that will nicely accommodate our needs for the Job Fair. This outstanding facility is only five minutes from Marketplace Mall and is adjacent to the RIT campus.
DIRECTIONS: John Street crosses Jefferson Road approximately one mile west of W Henrietta Road. Coming from Marketplace Mall on Jefferson Road toward RIT, you make a left onto John Street at the traffic light. Continue through the traffic light at Bailey Road (where you'll see the Red Cross building with its prominent flag poles on your right). The entrance to The Girl Scout Program Center is around the curve and on the left, with easily visible signage at the roof line. The actual location is slightly further in than it appears on this map. There is additional parking available on the west side of the Alstom building across the street. Please only use the west lot.
How does a Job Fair work?
Each of the participating companies will have representatives staffing a table in the exhibit hall. In order to make the most of this
opportunity, you need to do some advance preparation:
- Don't shotgun a resume to every table! Do a little research and target the companies where your skills and
experience will add value.
- Prepare your "elevator pitch" and practice in front of the mirror.
- Put your best foot forward. Most applicants will wear suits. (Though not all employers will!) Some coming from work will not have the chance to change, but should
be sure that their business casual is on the more formal side.
- When speaking with the recruiters, smile! Look them in the eye, be comfortable, be yourself. They want to hire people
with good qualifications, but also people they'd enjoy working with!
- Bring multiple copies of your resume. A folder or portfolio helps to keep them neat and crisp.
- Be respectful of the recruiters' time. If there is a line at the table, make your pitch and move on - unless the recruiter is the
one pitching you!
- Follow up! Note the name of the recruiter so that you can write a follow up letter to that person. Highlight some aspect of
your conversation to help them to remember you. Add that important piece of information that you forgot to share! Explain how you
can deliver value to their company based on the conversation that took place at the Job Fair.
- This event is important to the employers as well! They are seeking great people who will be a part of their company's future,
but please understand that they will receive hundreds of resumes and may not have the resources to reply to the candidates that
are not a fit for their current opportunities.
