Do you have A Bright Idea? Students at all regional colleges are eligible to enter a contest for the most innovative ideas for new products or services and compete for multiple $750 cash prizes!

The deadline for entries is January 8th, 2008! Download the entry form and it to us as soon as possible.

To complete your entry, you'll need a letter of endorsement from a local company. We'll help you to meet with a company in the industry related to your Bright Idea sometime between October and January 29, 2008. The Bright Idea Exhibition will be held from 5:30-7:30 pm on February 5th. Rochester companies have already committed to sending representatives to the event to talk with student entrants!

  • The idea can be in any industry for anything (other than suggestions that are illegal, immoral or proposals otherwise deemed inappropriate by Digital Rochester)
  • Entries may come from an individual student or a student team*
  • Your exhibit may be presented with posters or laptop displays and/or you may choose to actually build a working prototype. You'll interact with the public and pitch your idea to the judges, to potential employers - and maybe to a company that would like to partner with you to make your idea a reality!

As part of the entry process, we'll help you to meet representatives of a local company who will discuss the pros and cons of your idea with you and will write you a letter of endorsement. (Your entry is not complete until we are in receipt of this document.) Review the list of Endorsement Companies and we'll send you the details about how you'll connect with a company that is waiting for your call.

Win one - or more - of multiple $750 cash prizes sponsored by local businesses! Each business will set its own criteria for what makes "A Bright Idea" so you've got great odds of winning!

Digital Rochester has more than 4,000 members; we're interested in meeting innovative thinkers from local colleges and universities! The exhibition will be open to the public, so you'll have the chance to meet representatives of many potential employers in the greater Rochester region. We think you'll be surprised at the number of companies doing truly innovative work in your back yard!

    *STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS
Entrants must be enrolled at a regional college or university during the fall or spring semester, or the fall or winter quarter, of the 2007-2008 school year. Students who are on co-op or internship assignments during that time period are eligible. The student may be at any undergraduate or graduate grade level and need not be enrolled full time.

For team entries, all team members must meet the student qualifications. When student teams enter, any cash awards will be split evenly among team members.
