Digital Rochester Greater Rochester Enterprise

Digital Rochester, Inc., a not for profit business organization, is proud to be a supporter of the Greater Rochester Enterprise. GRE is a local organization dedicated to global promotion of the greater Rochester NY region as a thriving business locale. One of the distinguishing features of GRE is that it is primarily a private sector initiative, although government and not for profit groups are participating. GRE is funded by direct support from business in the form of commitments from members to donate over a five year period. Their initial five year fundraising goal is $14 million. This money is being used to develop an infrastructure and professional staff to actively promote the Rochester region on a global scale.

Digital Rochester has joined GRE and has made a five-year financial commitment to GRE. There are significant reasons why we believe it is important for DR to participate in this initiative. These include:

  • Our commitment to economic development in this area, particularly in the Technology sectors. We feel strongly that Rochester's extensive tech community needs a voice in this process, a voice we can help formulate.

  • The unique nature of GRE. Each GRE member receives one board seat and one vote. This is critical as it eliminates undue pressure from large established players, giving a relatively young organization such as DR an equal input into the process.

  • The private sector participation. GRE is representative of the business community and, as such, will more accurately reflect the real world needs of businesses considering locating or expanding in our area.

Because DR is entirely funded by our corporate sponsorships (we receive no grants or government funding), our commitment to GRE is a significant one. However, we strongly believe in the mission GRE is pursuing and equally strongly believe that Rochester's Technology communities must have a voice in this process. For these reasons, we contribute all of the proceeds from our annual golf tournament tothe Greater Rochester Enterprise. In addition, we have been proud to develop and co-sponsor the semi-annual Rochester to Rochester initiative with GRE. Your sponsorship dollars will help us in meeting these important goals.
