Digital Rochester Launches Corporate Partner Program

Since 2000, Digital Rochester has been bringing technology professionals together and supporting technology business growth in the Rochester community. Since the early days of gatherings at Tonic, DR has expanded events and community services to include an array of networking, educational, entrepreneurial and economic development activities. The common thread in all DR initiatives has been to stimulate the Greater Rochester technology community and industry.

Now, as Digital Rochester enters into its tenth year and membership tops 5,000 professionals, DR recognizes both the increased opportunities for Rochester’s tech community to be a vibrant, high-growth industry, and the realities of the current economy and its toll on our companies and professionals. These “dual realities” demonstrate the very real need for a strong industry support organization to empower the growth of Rochester’s local companies, provide professional development resources for professionals, and to build connections across the Technology Industry Value Chain. This is the mission of Digital Rochester. But Digital Rochester needs your help to make it happen.

Digital Rochester will hold just one summer networking event, so don’t miss it on Tuesday, July 13th. (One week later than usual due to the holiday.) We’re heading to one of Rochester’s most beautiful views at Max at High Falls. Located at 60 Brown’s Race, you’ll recognize the building as the home of the former Triphammer restaurant.

Max will be providing the pizza and, as always, Genesee Brewing Company will be providing the free beer. There will be also be a cash bar available. Join us and catch up on what is happening with Rochester’s technology professionals.

Area Leaders Met with DR and Xerox at Innovation Jam Session

On June 18th, leaders from many of the Greater Rochester area’s leading innovation organizations came together for a unique and powerful collaboration event, the first of its kind, the Digital Rochester Innovation Jam Session.

Large enterprise, research universities, funding partners, serial entrepreneurs and community supporting organizations were represented at this event. Some of the attendees included: Carestream Health, Rochester Institute of Technology, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Medtech, University of Rochester, RTEmd and New Scale Technologies .

The group met for an afternoon to discuss some of the systemic challenges that inhibit rapid growth of technology innovation and commercialization in our region. The leaders worked in small groups to explore solutions and begin building a framework that will be developed and leveraged over the coming months and years.

“The Digital Rochester Innovation Jam Session brought together many of our region’s most influential leaders to identify solutions to the largest barriers to building a vibrant innovation economy in the greater Rochester area,” said Josh Bouk, President of Digital Rochester and Senior Vice President of Veramark Technologies. “We are thrilled that Xerox has partnered with us to create the first ever Digital Rochester Innovation Jam Session. The Digital Rochester Innovation Jam Session, sponsored by Xerox, will draw together:

Large enterprise. Executives who drive the research and technology development efforts through global R&D efforts.
Research universities. Leaders of our regional research institutions that are driving IP creation and licensing
Serial entrepreneurs. Those men and women who have repeatedly proven to have the vision and leadership to drive new business creation and technology commercialization.
Funding partners. The leaders of investor and venture organizations that focus on seed and mezzanine investments.
Supporting organizations and government. Leaders from the organizations and agencies that support economic development and technology commercialization efforts at the local and state level.

The attendees will gather to spend the afternoon considering some of the systemic challenges that inhibit rapid growth of technology innovation and commercialization in our region. And they will consider how their own organizations and resources can be leveraged to support these initiatives.
