They’ll talk about the projects they have kept working on knowing that they’ll need results as things get back on track.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

JEFFREY BARTKOVICH, VP for Educational Technology Services, MCC

Dr. Jeffrey P. Bartkovich is the Vice President for Educational Technology Services at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. Dr. Bartkovich has a B.A. in English from Western Connecticut State University, a M.L.S. from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Virginia.

Dr. Bartkovich joined the staff of Monroe Community College nearly twenty years ago as the Assistant Vice President for Curriculum and Program Development, a position he served in until his appointment as Vice President for Educational Technology Services in 1999. In his experience prior to Monroe Community College, Dr. Bartkovich served as Coordinator of Academic Programs for the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education and as Director of Learning Resources at New River Community College.

Dr. Bartkovich has worked in and with community colleges for nearly thirty years and has extensive experience in community college curriculum, transfer and course articulation, student assessment and partnerships with local businesses and industry for training and regional economic development.

BILL STEINMETZ, CIO, Element K

As CIO, Bill Steinmetz is responsible for directing overall IT strategy and operations for the company. Since joining Element K in 2000, Steinmetz has held positions of progressive responsibility within the Platform Technology Services business, culminating in the role of Director of Web Development. In this position, Steinmetz provided technical leadership for the enhancement and support of Element K’s leading-edge Learning Management System, KnowledgeHub, now hosting over 3 million users.

Prior to Element K, Steinmetz held a Principle Consultant position for Questra Consulting. He also served as Senior Software Engineer for the University of Rochester, Laboratory for Laser Energetics. Steinmetz holds a BS in Computer Science from SUNY College at Brockport and an MBA from the Simon Graduate School of Business Administration (University of Rochester).

MIGUEL VELAZQUEZ, Information Technology Director, RGRTA

Mr. Velázquez has been with the Rochester-Genesee Regional Transportation Authority since 1999. He has occupied the position of IT Director for the last seven (7) years. During this time Mr. Velázquez has overseen the transformation of information systems for the entire company. This includes the implementation of new IT infrastructures and best of breed specialized software systems. Mr. Velazquez helped create the vision for the largest and most ambitious project ever undertaken by the Transportation Authority. Technology Initiative for Driving Excellence (TIDE), is a customer focused initiative that will set in place a comprehensive set of business processes and technologies, which includes GPS Vehicle location, route schedule adherence, fare collection and remote vehicle health monitoring among others.

During his time as IT Director Miguel has been responsible for growing the department’s staff from 3 to 11 people and is projecting an increase of 9 more people over the next 2 years.

Miguel has been delivering presentation to the American Public Transportation Association over the last 5 years on technology initiatives helping to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations in the public transit industry and how these technologies help the bottom line and services to the customer.

Mr. Velazquez is a member of many local Rochester organizations involved in providing higher education opportunities to Hispanic youth. He has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Rochester.

BRUCE D. LEIDAL, CIO, Carestream Health, Inc.

Leidal leads Carestream Health’s global Information Technology organization—focusing on building a more efficient and effective IT organization, streamlining processes, reducing costs and, ultimately, providing information that enables Carestream Health to optimize its business while continually improving its customers’ experience.

Prior to joining Carestream Health, Leidal served as CIO for Hayes Lemmerz, International (HLI), a $2.4 billion global automotive supplier for which he was responsible for transforming HLI’s IT function from a decentralized, North American organization into a global operation with centralized applications and supporting infrastructure. His accomplishments at HLI led to improved information accuracy, streamlined decision making, and stronger business management.

Leidal previously held leadership positions at Systems Thinking, LLC, General Motors, Federal-Mogul Corporation, and AT Kearney/EDS Management Consulting. He received a B.S. in Information Systems from Madonna University in Livonia, Mich., and has several certifications including Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) and IT Management from Learning Tree International.
