We thank New York State Senator Joe Robach for his help in making this event possible!
Do you own your career? Are you charting your path or are you one of those people who "ducked" in 2001 to avoid being laid off - and find yourself still treading water? Are there opportunities to develop new skills and grow through a variety of experiences at your current employer? Do you know how marketable you are in today's workplace? You owe it to yourself to explore the answers to these questions and we'll help you do it!
Digital Rochester and the
High Tech Business Council (HTBC) have partnered to present
our fourth Career Fair that's designed to connect area professionals with the opportunities that could mean a real boost to their careers! Come out and meet the 54 companies that will be joining us on the 28th!
Participating companies represent optics, life sciences/bio-tech, engineering, software development, IT and
telecom industries, hiring technical talent as well as sales, marketing, manufacturing, HR, finance & operations professionals. When innovation and opportunity tap into a highly skilled and productive workforce,
the Rochester/Finger Lakes region is at its best!
These companies are hiring for more than 500 professional positions! It is very important that you pass the word to your friends and neighbors so that we get information to as many people who are interested in exploring their opportunities for career advancement as possible.
You don't need to be job hunting to come out and see what these great Rochester companies
are up to - and to catch up with some old friends. Check out the booths and mingle with the crowd to see who's landed where
over the past couple of years. Reconnect!
There is no charge to attend and no need to pre-register.

How does a Career Fair work?
Each of the participating companies will have representatives staffing a table in the exhibit hall. In order to make the most of this
opportunity, you need to do some advance preparation:
- Don't shotgun a resume to every table! Do a little research and target the companies where your skills and
experience will add value.
- Prepare your "elevator pitch" and practice in front of the mirror.
- Put your best foot forward. Most applicants will wear suits. (Though not all employers will!) Some coming from work will not have the chance to change, but should
be sure that their business casual is on the more formal side.
- When speaking with the recruiters, smile! Look them in the eye, be comfortable, be yourself. They want to hire people
with good qualifications, but also people they'd enjoy working with!
- Bring multiple copies of your resume. A folder or portfolio helps to keep them neat and crisp.
- Be respectful of the recruiters' time. If there is a line at the table, make your pitch and move on - unless the recruiter is the
one pitching you!
- Follow up! Note the name of the recruiter so that you can write a follow up letter to that person. Highlight some aspect of
your conversation to help them to remember you. Add that important piece of information that you forgot to share! Explain how you
can deliver value to their company based on the conversation that took place at the Career Fair.
- This event is important to the employers as well! They are seeking great people who will be a part of their company's future,
but please understand that they will receive hundreds of resumes and may not have the resources to reply to the candidates that
are not a fit for their current opportunities.
See you there!
