DR was founded in Q3/2000 and ever since we've been accelerating steadily on the way to becoming the Upstate NY area's pre-eminent technology business community. We've expanded our events and community services to include an array of networking, educational, entrepreneurial and economic development activities. The common thread in all DR events is focus on bringing value to our members and their organizations and businesses. Through generous corporate sponsorship by a wide variety of technology companies and community organizations, we've been able to consistently enhance our area's standing as a technology center.

Digital Rochester is a community of technology professionals and entrepreneurs in Upstate NY.

Those of us who live near and work in Rochester's technology businesses know that there is a very active tech business climate in Rochester. And most of us find Upstate NY a pretty nice place to hang out- inexpensive, scenic, easy to get around in and increasingly cosmopolitan. But, all too often, these facts are a well kept secret outside of Rochester.

Digital Rochester was formed to build a community of interest and to help dispel our image as a staid, cold, hard to reach outpost somewhere outside of New York City. With the global IT revolution in full swing, Rochester's conservative business climate has been thawing rapidly. Start-ups have proliferated and we're seeing this area emerge as a center for specialized technologies like biomedical technology, wireless networking and digital imaging.

Tell the World The Good Stuff

Using the simplicity of viral email and the web we put the word out and asked people to pass it on. The results have been spectacular. Thousands have signed up for our email list (for DR news, events and more) and our monthly DR Networking Events have been a huge success with a line forming for sponsorship, including some of the most innovative companies in global technology.

This current version of the DR site demonstrates the changes we've seen over the past few years. It features numerous events and resources for technology businesses, including both DR events and any other events of value to our members.
